Zulu for "What have we done?" |
Please join us for the 3rd annual Volunteer Opportunities and Poverty Awareness Fair on October 15-17. The theme of this year's Fair will be: Article 25 of the Declaration of Human Rights that poverty is a human rights issue, and the power of music in creating social change. We're calling the Fair Senzeni NA, as it is reflective of the Fair's mission: as in "What have we done" ...to cause poverty? ...to help those in need? ...and LOOK what we have done! The Fair is held annually to connect volunteers with nonprofits and to raise awareness of poverty.
All the Senzeni Na Fair events are "Free Will Offering".
Because all events are free will offering, we need your financial help to help cover expenses. We hope that you will lend financial support to the 2009 Senzeni Na Volunteer Opportunities and Poverty Awareness Fair by becoming a sponsor and making a voluntary contribution to help off-set the costs of the Fair.
We have expanded the Fair this year. There will be informational presentations, documentaries, a bake sale, designing banner panels for the Blessing of the Banner on December 10th, a closing concert by the Boston Community Choir with a reception following the concert, as well as a "Jelly Bean Mystery Auction"!
Presentations: "Amandla: A Revolution in 4-part Harmony", Fran Larkin - What Children Can Do!, Deborah Smith - "Waging a Living", Immigration Forum, IC Haiti - "Road to Fondwa" and closing concert by the Boston Community Choir. Other presentations to be announced later.
Jelly Bean Mystery Item Auction: The Jelly Bean Mystery Auction "auctions" off the mystery item by having people guess the number of items in a container. Whoever guesses the closest to the actual number in the container, wins the mystery item. The items are not auctioned for money so as to be inclusive to all.
Jelly Bean Mystery Items: Margot Siegmann - painting, Tom Cruise - signed photo, Fran Larkin - " Five Words and Then Some", Paula Dean - signed photo and cookbook, Bobby Flay - signed photo, Manny Fernandez - signed photo and signed puck, Carole Bisgrove - scarf, Among Criminals - CD, James Marshall - print, Kathy Morrow - signed "You Lucky Frog", Poverty Program.com - "On the Move" by Bono, Pennies for Poverty: 2 Cents 4 Change, Inc. - "Change the World for Ten Bucks", Ross Varney - CD, Blake Wheeler - signed photo, and more are coming in!
